OT4ADHD LLC’s process for conducting a needs assessment begins with gathering information from various sources to identify specific needs relevant to occupational therapy practitioners.

We will utilize a combination of methods, including focus groups, questionnaires and surveys, learners’ comments and suggestions, records and reports, tests or self-assessments, literature review, demographic data, print media, observation, and work samples. These methods allow us to comprehensively assess the learning needs of occupational therapy practitioners.

Additionally, needs assessments will be conducted in different contexts, such as staff meetings, utilization review committees, or discipline-specific forums within occupational therapy. Through these assessments, we identify gaps in knowledge, emerging trends, areas requiring further skill development, and other educational needs pertinent to the practice of occupational therapy.

OT4ADHD will document, review, and update our needs assessments regularly to ensure that our PD activities remain relevant and effective in addressing the evolving needs of occupational therapy practitioners.

Our process for determining the educational level of a PD activity involves aligning the content and learning outcomes with the appropriate level of knowledge and experience of the target audience.

OT4ADHD will categorize our PD activities into three educational levels: introductory, intermediate, and advanced.

For each PD activity, we will assess the target audience's existing knowledge and experience related to the subject matter. Based on this assessment, we will determine the appropriate educational level that best meets the needs of the learners.

  • Introductory level activities are designed for practitioners with little or no knowledge of the subject matter. These activities provide foundational information to introduce learners to the topic.
  • Intermediate level activities are tailored to practitioners with a general working knowledge of current practice trends and literature related to the subject matter. These activities aim to deepen understanding and enhance application of the subject matter.
  • Advanced level activities target practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter based on current theories, standards of practice, literature, and research. These activities focus on recent advances, emerging trends, and advanced research applications.

By aligning the educational level of our PD activities with the knowledge and experience of the target audience, we will ensure that our programs effectively meet the learning needs of occupational therapy practitioners at various stages of their professional development.

OT4ADHD will ensure that instructors selected for each learning activity are competent in the identified content area by establishing clear guidelines for their selection.

Instructors will be chosen based on their expertise, experience, and credentials in the subject matter relevant to occupational therapy. This will include reviewing their résumés, job descriptions, licenses, and certifications to verify their qualifications. Additionally, instructors will undergo a vetting process to assess their understanding of the activity's purpose and learning outcomes, as well as their knowledge and skill in instructional methods and delivery formats. By carefully selecting instructors who meet these criteria, OT4ADHD will ensure the quality and effectiveness of each learning activity.
